Tu graduated with a Bachelor of Building Construction Management degree with Honours at the University of New South Wales. He received a High Distinction for his thesis Encouraging Conflict in Construction through Constructive Conflict Management and is a co-author of "An Investigation into the Merits of Encouraging Conflict in the Construction Industry" published in the Construction Management and Economics journal.
Although he enjoyed working in the building industry at both the domestic and commercial levels he is more drawn to assisting people and to help solve their problems in a more personal and direct way.
Believing that the legal profession is his calling, he completed a Master of Law and Legal Practice degree at the University of Technology, Sydney, majoring in Dispute Resolution. He received High Distinction for his major subjects in Dispute Resolution, Negotiation, Crisis Negotiation, and Psychology & Dispute Resolution.
After finishing law school he worked in a commercial law firm, a community legal centre, the Federal Magistrates Court and small law practices in the Sydney’s CBD, where he gained diverse professional legal experiences. In 2008, he founded BT Legal, with offices on Illawarra Road and Sydney CBD as a way of reaching out and helping people with legal problems in his community.
